Advancing the Practice

The Community Health Worker Network of NYC, in partnership with the Community Health Worker Association of Rochester, the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and with generous support from the New York State Health Foundation and the Kellogg Foundation, recently published a seminal report titled, Paving a Path to Advance the Community Health Worker Workforce in New York State.  The report is based on existing evidence base, our own original research, and a statewide effort to advance the CHW workforce led by thought leaders from all relevant CHW stakeholder sectors and geographically representative of the state working collaboratively with CHW leadership. The report contains a summary of the existing CHW business case and recommendations for CHW scope of practice, training, credentialing, and financing. This report articulates a discrete CHW scope of practice with relevant roles and associated tasks.
